Bio - I love yoga and photography, I truly do; It has helped me become the person I am today and gave me the opportunity to witness others transform. This is the first and synchronicity in my career that I felt a meaningful coincidence. My dream is to create, Inspire and create a feeling of happiness through my creative world.

Class Philosophy - I love yoga in so many ways: Yoga saved my life.
I love yoga - the way the physical practice makes me feel, a practice that helps me to stay connected to my Truth. The clear ethical guidelines through which to engage with self and others, a lifestyle that includes respecting life on all levels.

What yoga means to me- For me, yoga is not a practice, it’s a lifestyle. My favorite part of yoga is not the asana but the BREATH. Breathing – the most important thing that we do – translates into how we feel energetically, emotionally and mentally. Through the breath we have a way to change our energy at will.

Emily Lavender

Bio - I first attended a Yoga class to relieve chronic shoulder pain: it worked and quickly began to transform my life both mentally and physically.

Class Philosophy - By applying principals of alignment and philosophy to each class, I implement a well-rounded practice. My Vinyasa is a powerful energetic sequence where students fluidly move from one pose to the next while connecting their breath to their movements.

What Yoga means to me - Yoga helps me feel connected, to myself, strong and beautiful. I believe Yoga offers meaningful benefits to every person from every walk of life.

johannah bradley

Bio - I am the founder of MPower Yoga. I have been practicing yoga for over 18 years and am registered RYT 200 by Yoga Alliance.

Class Philosophy - For me, a great yoga class means that the student discovered a new space in their body, a new use for their breath in challenging poses or a new sense of empowerment through bringing their attention into their body. I want students to feel improved strength, alignment and mobility after any MPower class.

What Yoga means to me - As a single, working mother of three, yoga has been the constant that allows me to give back to myself. Building strength, stamina and flexibility has empowered me to find strength and resilience through the challenges of life. The act of dedicating time during the day to bring my breath, body and mind into alignment has been an empowering gift.

Bio: I have practicing Pilates for over seven years and I love the feeling it leaves me after every mat experience. When I am not on my mat, I enjoy hikes with my husband and two dogs, as well jogs on the beach. I look forward to meeting you in Pilates where we will inhale deeply and exhale fully.

Class Philosophy: Flow Pilates is where strength meets flexibility. Think highly focused movements that leave your body toned and transformed. Incredible fusion ab chiseling and total body defining moves choreographed to upbeat music. The fundamentals of breathing, core engagement, and powerhouse based movements are shared. It's a dance on the mat.

What Pilates means to me: Flow Pilates brings focus in maintaining proper alignment, core stability and joint integrity, while emphasizing skilled execution.

Mod amaya

Bio - Mod is an E RYT-500 Yoga Instructor through Yoga Alliance, a Certified AIReal YogaTM Lead Teacher, and a professional performance acrobat who has done work for various productions and reality TV. She has been practicing yoga for over 16 years. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Economics and living the corporate human resources life for years, she traded in her office for a yoga mat, and she’s been teaching ever since.

Class Philosophy - My playful classes focus on alignment, proper body mechanics, and making deeper connections within ourselves... as well as lots of handstand-y postures and cheesy jokes :)

What Yoga means to me - I consider yoga to be a central element of my well being. I’ve used this wondrous practice to help piece myself back together after a moderate lumbar injury, and in a separate incident, a serious neck fracture (both non-yoga related injuries). I think yoga is a multifaceted package of awesome and I love the opportunity to share this practice’s many benefits with my students, and heck, anyone who will listen.

Bio- i always had a love for yoga. It was the only form of movement that really made me feel good about myself. When the pandemic hit I was out of work and had no idea what direction I was going. Then I took the MPower teacher training and once again my life made sense. I knew I was supposed to be teaching.

Class Philosophy- My goal is to make people feel good about themselves just as it does for me. I want to make people happy. “When you make someone happy, you see his or her happy face and feel happy yourself. If you have really experienced the joy of just giving, something for the sake of giving you will wait greedily for opportunities to get that joy again and again.” -The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

What Yoga means to me- It means finding a balance between living, breathing, moving and thinking. Yoga is a way to pause and find center.

Shellyn Liska

After falling in love with yoga in college, I found myself a student in MPower’s 200 YTT, with no plan on actually teaching yoga. Completing this journey left me inspired and ready to share what I’ve learned with others.  I was also ready to be the teacher I had not had early in my yoga journey.

Inclusion and safety are the most important aspects to my yoga teaching philosophy. I hope everyone who joins my class feels encouraged and welcome in the space regardless of their race, body size, gender, age, or ability. In my class, expect lots of options, variations, and to feel present while mindfully moving your body in sync with your breath.

eliot williams

Bio - Currently I have been practicing for the last two years. Continuing with my self growth along my journey as I spread self-awareness with all of the individuals I encounter. Graduated with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology at Cal Poly Pomona. I had undergone my training at The Yoga Unit, Claremont. Creating music and rock climbing are the other passions of mine when not instructing. In between, I strive for improvement with my practice in yoga.

Class Philosophy - With great safety, a solid foundation can promote the wellness one desires within their awareness of practice. Gradual movements that evolve over time into graceful flows with great control. Allowing for the breath to rhythmically be in sync through self discipline. Letting go and enjoying the moment as it is present.

What Yoga means to me - Yoga has improved my state mind, as well as physicality, when I injured myself. Allowing for myself to keep my mind busy and focused outside of the injury. Understanding that my reaction within is what I have control of, not the other way around. Relishing in the shared experience as we all would gather to encourage one another.Relief puts the mind at ease with consistency.

Gina Stafford

I was a college athlete struggling with asthma and I knew I had to do something about it or it would only get worse! At that time, Yoga was presented to me as a holistic approach to my healing. It changed my life and helped me turn my health around for the better! Since then, I have been practicing yoga for 23 years. My styles of study are...Vinyasa (flow), Iyengar (precision and alignment), Pranayama (regulated breathing), Dharana and Dhyana (Meditation). Class Philosophy: To give back to love what love gave to me, by sharing my experience and knowledge for the collective good with the intention of benefiting others. My wish for all the students in my class is...To KNOW that they are CAPABLE, physically, mentally & emotionally! What Yoga means to me: Yoga means, controlling my breath, controlling my mind, and controlling my body. It has been said that if you can control the breath, you can control the body. I believe this 100% due to my personal discoveries of what it feels like to YOKE together my mind, my body and my breath, as they become one system that functions as optimally as possible for me and only me. Yoga has helped me find states of enlightenment and self realization.

Bio- Yoga sculpt entered my life after joining the MPOWER community. The love for high Intensity weight training met with present embodiment of yoga. Strengthing the present and physical self was an amazing integration and combination for me.

Class Philosophy- The love for purpose of yoga and exercise are important to me. Physical and mental health coincide with my career and personal mindset, but also my philosophy of class. This class is for YOU, to love yourself, to work on yourself, and to feel empowered and accomplished after each class. I will challenge you to believe in yourself and your abilities, to step out of your comfort zone, and to push yourself every class.

What Yoga means to me- “…embrace our worries, our fear, and our anger; and that is very healing..”-Thich Nhat Hanh- heal your mind and body, embrace and welcome emotion and being uncomfortable, be present, and continue to strive in bettering yourself daily physically and mentally.

Stephanie Parmental

Bio- I’ve been practicing pilates for over 20 years. I’ve been teaching pilates for three years. I am certified in Pilates Sports Center in Mat Pilates and Pilates for Neurological Diseases from the Neuro Studio.

Class Philosophy- My goals are the same with every class. Improve flexibility, build strength, and endurance, integrate core strength and spine stabilization throughout every movement, increase body awareness by increasing mind body connection. There is always a focus on breath work, coordination and balance.

What yoga means to me- I found that my pilates practice offers me a two-part guarantee. One, it is as challenging and rewarding as i commit to it every time. Two, I always feel fabulous and satisfied after my time on the mat. I realize that while all bodies are different, they all feel at their best through regular movement. Pilates helps me connect to my “whole body” regardless of the focus for that particular class. Movement is a great act of self care.

Bio- I have been practicing for over 20 years. Trained through Yoga Fit (RYT 200) and have taught for 15 years. I practice and teach many different styles. Class Philosophy- “The nature of yoga is to shine the light of awareness into the darkest corners of the body.” -Jason Crandall

What Yoga means to me- I began taking yoga to help control my anxiety and other stressors in my life. I immediately fell in love. I have always been into fitness and staying strong, but the energy and zen yoga gives to your entire mind, body, and soul is overpowering!

jENNIFER mENDEZ

Bio- Yoga came to me when I needed it most. I joined MPower yoga my 2nd year of college, with no experience as I had been struggling through school and life stressors. I had always been nervous to try it out, and MPower truly welcomed me with open arms.

Class Philosophy- My goal is to challenge and help every student feel empowered.

What Yoga means to me- Yoga sculpt was the first class I ever took and I have never looked back. I sculpted my body while shaping my mind! Yoga sculpt gave me confidence to achieve my spiritual and mental goals.
